Culica News Update

Firstly let me say that there are two new reviews of the Culica, here, by a puzzle collector, Gabriel Fernandes, and another here from the perspective of a self-educating parent with a little Culica fanatic ;-)

 More news...

We have been inventing new games and puzzles. There are many and these will find their way onto our website, with the already published games and puzzles. See Culica Games Rules.

Just as an aside, a nice discovery is that it is impossible to do the following. Cover the Culica in pegs such that there are exactly three pegs per colour in every loop around the Culica. (There are nine loops, three around each axis of the cube, and four peg colours). The most pegs you can place without exceeding three pegs of a colour per loop is 52 (the cube has 54 slots in total). Try it :-)

Culica was in Hamleys at Christmas

Culica was in Hamleys and Lakeland at Christmas, Hamleys sold out, as did Lakeland!

Culica features in the bumper Toy News magazine, December/January issue, in their new products page. It was great to chat to Lewis Tyler of Toy News, whom I was fortunate to meet at the London Toy Show.

Exciting event - Culica are attending the Nuremberg Toy Show on Feb 1st to 6th. We are really looking forward to it, and if you are there, be sure to pop into our stand (Hall 12, Stand A-04-5).

It was fun to attend the 2012 London Toy Show earlier this week. There was lots of cool stuff, but I will mention a couple of electronic-based toy stands as they are neat. There was a cool stand with LED construction kits, which comprise Lego bricks with the fascinating, bright little lights. Lego has a patent, which has endured for 99 years (this seems ten times too long for a patent, in the context of what is best for the public interest). The patent has finally expired. Then there was a Hex Bugs robot bugs stand, and I notice that they have more designs than this time last year.

I did not notice any particularly innovative non-electronic games in the show. Only the Culica is really fresh and new, but we did not have a stand at this event, However, the Culica should make a bit of a splash at Nuremberg, where we are exhibiting, as mentioned, it's next week!

On the biz side: Culica are looking for world-wide "distribution", and a powerful UK-based distributor, to take Culica to the next level, to entertain the whole wide world.

Culica and Early Learning

Hi James, thanks for the reference to my little Culica fanatic! :D

Just wanted to say that I've added a Culica related post to my blog that explores it's potential uses for early learning http://www.autonomouseducation.com/2012/01/early-learning-games.html
